I’m Dan, known to many as Nubbs, and I’m the coach behind Uncommon Pace.
Proof that smart, consistent training works—at any age, with a real life.
I’ve run multiple marathons, including London, Berlin, and Chicago—but I didn’t take a traditional path to get there. I only really started running four years ago, in my mid 40’s, while working a regular full-time job.
That late start changed how I think about training. I’ve learned that progress doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from doing the right work consistently, in a way that fits real life.
I started Uncommon Pace because I saw too many runners following generic plans or pushing through training without understanding why. My approach is simple: meet you where you are, build consistency first, and progress with intention. Training should support your life, not compete with it.
I coach runners at all levels—from those getting back into running to athletes training for races. Whether you’re preparing for your first race or chasing a marathon personal best, the focus stays the same: smart structure, clear communication, and long-term development.
Uncommon Pace offers digital and in-person coaching, with training built around your goals, schedule, and experience. No templates. No shortcuts. Just thoughtful, sustainable work.
Running doesn’t need to be extreme to be effective.
It just needs to be done well.
